Frequently Asked Questions

  • CAN ANYONE JOIN?
Yes and No. It's complicated. We are trying to work with insurance AND offer this new healthcare model. Insurance plans do not allow us to offer DPC to those with insurances that we accept. However, in an attempt to offer the same great services with a model that complies with insurance regulations, we will be offering a Concierge plan. Please contact our office for more information Patient's who opt in this partnership will be billed directly and insurance will not be involved
  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DPC AND CONCIERGE MEDICINE?
DPC is an AFFORDABLE health care model for the every day person where insurance is not billed. Concierge medicine is a fee that a patient pays the provider for extra services not paid by insurance. The insurance can still billed and typically is more expensive.
  • CAN I BE SEEN IF I DON'T WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN YOUR MEMBERSHIP PLANS?
Yes, if you are a subscriber of the plans for which we are providers (BCBS, UHC, Aetna) we can bill your insurance. Patients who are not within this circle, and who are not interested in our DPC model will be seen as time allows. Please call for availability. We pride ourselves in the quality of care we provide that is built on strong relationships with our patients. This being said, our patient panel for both insured patients and our DPC will remain intentionally small.
  • WHY WON'T YOU ACCEPT MEDICARE/MEDICAID OR VA?
Unfortunately, government provided insurance plans make it very complex to provide care to those with those plans AND our DPC model. We have been advised by our lawyer that it is ok to take commercial insurance but NOT government provided insurance. Further explained, with government provided insurances if we as providers "opt in," we have to accept all provisions set forth by Medicare and it is illegal to charge any membership prices. We can get around this by "opting out of Medicare" and dis-enrolling from other government based programs, but by doing this we cannot accept those programs as payment.
  • WILL GOVERNMENT BASED INSURANCE PROGRAMS SUCH AS MEDICARE STILL PAY FOR ANY ORDERED SERVICES?
Yes, your insurance will still pay for services set forth by their plan (labs, imaging, referrals etc.)
  • CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT HOME VISITS?
Those who are part of a membership model will be offered home visits starting at $100.
  • WILL THERE BE ANY OTHER FEES ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR DPC -PRACTICE?
There is a $100 enrollment fee. You may cancel at any time with a 30 days written notice.
  • WHO WILL CARE FOR ME IN THE EVENT YOU TWO GO ON VACATION?
We have a nurse who will be able to Triage patients as needed. We also live in a time where we will be able to check our messages and refill medications if appropriate outside of the office. Televisits will be available at a limited basis. We will also give plenty of notice and reminders of our absence. However, we are also in the process with working with another medical provider to provide call in the event it is needed.
